dianeDiane Levesque-Majewski

Diane was born in Vancouver, British Columbia.

She is a local artist in Prince George B.C. and is part of the Dzawada’enuxw First Nation (Kwakwaka’wakw) & Shuneymuxw First Nation (Coast Salish) as well as a member of the Dzawada’enuxw First Nation.  The Kwakwaka’wakw – ‘speakers of Kwakwala’ – or Kwakiutl nations are Master of Art and drama and are known to hold the greatest Potlach ceremonies.

Diane began having an interest in Native Art around 2003 and is a self-taught artist.  She began to develop her own distinct style & interpretation in Native Art but has now also branched out into abstract painting, pop art and photorealism using acrylics, oils, alcoholic ink and oils.  She also makes pottery by modeling clay by hand, mosaic art using a variety of glass and ceramic tiles, beaded jewellery (semi precious stones and glass beads) and recently has begun making unique jewellery (necklaces and earrings) out of silver and pounded copper.  Her passion is creating art in many forms!

Diane sells her art locally through social media, word-of-mouth and Artisan Fairs and displays her art in local Art Exhibitions.

Retired from the Ministry of Environment in 2016 in a leadership role, Diane plans to continue her journey creating art in several different forms, working with mentors and acquiring new skills to continue with a career in the arts.
